Sachsenring, Germany: After the eighth race of the World Championship on the historical Sachsenring track the Forward Racing Team is starting their 4-week summer break. But before both riders had to face some difficulties in Germany starting on the first day of free practice.
Claudio Corti had to face his first experience on this track with 39 of fever and feeble physical conditions due to a strong infection of the larynx. Even though this limitation, the young Italian rider gave his maximum to use the first session on track to figure out the ideal line, collecting important information to improve the setup of the bike. His teammate Jules Cluzel, on the other hand, complained about a drastic lack of rear grip which did not allow him to receive any feedback from his Suter. Unfortunately, any modification effected during the practice did not improve the situation.
The qualifying practice did not end as expected for the Forward Racing Team. Despite the huge effort of the entire team and the perfect support of the "Clinica Mobile", the result of both riders did not improve significantly compared with the day before. Claudio Corti, still with high fever, qualified in the sixth row with a gap of just one second and a half from the pole setter Andrea Iannone. Jules Cluzel, instead, still looking for the best solution for the lack of grip, used even the qualifying practice to try several modifications to figure out the best direction for setup of his Suter bike. A research, which just minutes before the end of the session when Jules was improving his time, came to a drastic end as he crashed out in corner eight.
After a weekend full of difficulties for the Forward Racing Team the German Grand Prix ended with a twelfth and a 23rd position for Jules Cluzel and Claudio Corti. Both riders had to face the race starting from the back of the grid. In fact, Jules Cluzel was able to demonstrate once again his great determination with a fantastic race recovering 19 positions from 31st on the grid until the twelfth place at the finish line, what means four important points for the championship standing. A very important result bearing in mind that his rivals for the top positions in the championship like Simon, Tomizawa or Corsi has been in trouble as well or crashed out. Instead Claudio Corti's race was conditioned by his physical condition. The young Italian rider from Como, who has suffered all the weekend because of high fever and a strong state of weakness due to an infection of the larynx, was unable to demonstrate its real capabilities.
DARK DOG hopes that its rider Claudio Corti gets well very soon, wishes good relaxation and expects both drivers rested and full of energy in four weeks in Brno.
12th position
"Considering the circumstances of the weekend and the bad position on the grid, today's result has to be evaluated as positive. I made a good start and was able to gain many positions, so that I ended up with 4 points which allowed me to keep my seventh position in the world championship standing. Although I should be happy a bitter taste remains in the mouth because if I think about the problems my competitors had, I lost the opportunity to recover much more points. Anyway, during the next three weeks we will analyze all the experiences we made during this weekend to leave all the difficulties behind us, ready to be back on the top of the timesheet in Brno.
23rd position
"This Sunday was an extremely hard one for me! From the middle of the race I had no more strength, I felt so weak, but I absolutely wanted to finish the race for my team and my sponsors. Already from the first laps on it was so incredibly cold for me as the fever got worse again during the race. At the end I followed some riders in front of me but I did not even try to overtake them, as I really had no energy. Now I just want to cure myself to be prepared as good as possible for the race in Brno."
