Despite widespread travel disruption due to Island volcano
Superbike Race at Assen takes place this weekend

Championship leader Leon Haslam aims to maintain his winning course

Assen, The Netherlands: The fourth round of this years' Superbike World Championship will take place this upcoming weekend on the 4.555 kilometre race track in Assen, Netherlands and DARK DOG rider Leon Haslam - the current leader of the championship - is looking forward to continuing his tremendous form.

Although the eruption of Island's volcano Eyjafjallajoekull and the resulting grounding of aircraft throughout Europe has already forced the postponement of another motorsport event this weekend - the MotoGP in Japan - the organizers of the World Superbike Series insisted that the Assen race meeting this weekend will go ahead as scheduled, with the eruption set to have no adverse effect on the event.

"The bikes and riders are all in Europe, following the last round at Valencia. Many teams are also planning to get there by car as well, so there should be no particular issues for Assen." Infront Motor Sports SBK director Paolo Ciabatti said.

Team Suzuki Alstare and the young Briton Leon Haslam who has given the team the best results for years, are already looking like a title contender. So far this season Leon has taken two victories and three runner-up spots and is determined to carry on with podiums in Assen - a circuit he likes.

His team mate Sylvain Guintoli is also "up" for Assen and well prepared for the flowing 4.555 kilometre track where he hopes getting back to his early season form.

DARK DOG - as the official Energy Drink Partner of Team Suzuki Alstare - is already looking forward to seeing the team on the podium again and to enjoying an exciting upcoming weekend full of fast-paced races!

Leon Haslam

"Two wins and three seconds in six races is a pretty good start to the season and I feel confident that I can carry on with this good form. I like the bike and feel very comfortable on it and that lets me push it hard. I used to like the 'old' Assen circuit because it was a very flowing and great high-speed track. Since they modified it, I don't like it as much as the old one, but it's still a good track and very spectator friendly. I hope that the recent travel problems don't affect the crowds much, because Assen always throws up good racing and it would be a shame for the fans to miss out on what is going to be another great Superbike weekend. I had two podiums in Assen last season and will be aiming to do the same again this year."

Sylvain Guintoli

"There were some positives from the last race weekend and I need to build on them and do much better in practice and qualifying so that I am in a good position on the race day. I like Assen and think it will suit our bike well, so I am really "up" for the races this coming weekend. Despite the changes to the circuit, it is still a good track and it normally provides great racing. I will be going all-out for podiums, but I know I have to be in a good position on the grid to run with the front guys at the start of the races. I haven't raced at Assen on a Superbike, so this will be a new experience for me."
